owa5x is built on the Owasys owa5X platform, a proven European industrial edge computer. Owasys handles hardware production and certifications (CE, FCC). Melqart provides the software ecosystem, integration, and ongoing support.
owa5x uses the i.MX8M Plus with quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 64-bit processors running at 1.6GHz. Optional NPU (up to 2.3 TOPS) and GPU are available for AI and graphics workloads.
The optional NPU provides up to 2.3 TOPS for AI inference workloads. The optional GPU supports OpenGL ES 3.1, Vulkan, and OpenCL for graphics and parallel computing. Both are optional and can be specified at order time.
Yes. owa5x runs Debian or Yocto Linux with full container support. You can deploy Docker or Podman containers for your applications. You own 100% of your application code.
HAB is a hardware-based secure boot mechanism that ensures only signed, verified firmware can boot. Combined with TPM 2.0, it provides enterprise-grade security for mission-critical deployments.
10/100BASE-T1 (SPE, Single Pair Ethernet) uses a single twisted pair and is common in automotive applications. 10/100BASE-TX is standard Ethernet. owa5x supports both, selectable as a factory option.
owa5x supports up to 4 CAN-FD interfaces. CAN-FD (Flexible Data-rate) supports higher speeds than CAN 2.0B, making it suitable for modern vehicle networks and high-bandwidth industrial applications.
owa5x offers higher performance (quad-core A53 @ 1.6GHz vs single-core A8 @ 800MHz), optional NPU/GPU for AI workloads, IP67/IP6K9K protection (vs IP67/IP40), and more storage options. owa4x is more compact and lower power for mid-range applications.
